Open Arms // James 2:1-10

Welcoming others is more than a friendly “hello.”

  • What are some ways we might be tempted to show favoritism today?

  • What does being “rich in faith” look like in real life?

  • What is the connection between our relationship with God and our relationship with others?

  • What are some reasons favoritism and love will never go together?

Your student has been encouraged to take practical steps to take his or her faith and Live It Out in the Personal Study Guide. Here are some ways you can encourage your student to live out their faith with Christ personally, in community, and in their culture.

  • CHRIST: Tell your teenager about a time when God worked through you to impact another.

  • COMMUNITY: Ask your teenager about favoritism in the church and consider ways he or she can be more welcoming to everyone.

  • CULTURE: As a family, brainstorm some ideas to better love and show value to those feeling unloved in your church or community. Put those ideas into practice.
